Meet our Doctors
Dr. Tanny Josen – Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Tanny Josen’s goal is to make tooth care and visits to the dentist fun for children. Born and raised in Manhasset, he frequently volunteers at local schools, speaking to children about the importance of oral hygiene. During his visits, Dr. J (as the kids call him) educates children on proper dental health care to ensure that they start off on the right foot.
Dr. Josen completed a three-year, hospital-based residency program in pediatric dentistry at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he served as chief resident of the dental department in his last year. He earned his undergraduate degree from Clark University in Massachusetts and graduated from NYU School of Dentistry in 1996 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. His memberships include the American Dental Association and the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Josen lives with his spouse and small children and enjoys frequent visits to New York City to dine out and see plays on Broadway.
Dr. Abhinav Sinha – Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Abhinav Sinha, is the Director of the Children’s Dental Health Center and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Sinha has clinical expertise in all phases of Pediatric Dental Medicine, including special needs patients and complex oral rehabilitation under general anesthesia.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Physiology/Neurobiology and Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Sinha earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2005 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency in pediatric dental medicine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Schneider Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Sinha lives with his wife and son in New Jersey. When he is not busy sighting dental decay or teaching young dental residents, he can be found happily trying out new restaurants, doing kettlebell workouts, or just hanging out with his wife and son.
Dr. Andrew Demos – Orthodontist
Dr. Demos grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh where he majored in Biology and Economics.
Following his undergraduate studies he attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. After dental school he completed his studies with a two-year residency in Orthodontics at Jacksonville University.
Dr. Demos is a member of the American Associates of Orthodontics and is an American Board of Orthodontics Diplomate. He prides himself in being skilled in the most advanced and newest techniques in orthodontics including Invisalign.
Patients of Dr. Demos are comforted by his caring personality and his attention to detail. Dr. Demos is married and has a son and a daughter.
Dr. Karen Lewkowitz – Orthodontist
Dr. Karen Lewkowitz has been in practice for over 25 years, and her extensive orthodontic experience, reputation, and caring nature makes her popular with orthodontic patients here at Kid Island Dental.
A member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and Past Chairperson of the National Children’s Dental Health Month for Queens County Dental Society, Dr. Lewkowitz is a graduate of Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine. After completing a two year Orthodontic Specialty at New York University’s College of Dentistry at the top of her class, she limits her practice to Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Lewkowitz has a passion for teaching and has lectured extensively throughout Queens and Nassau Counties while holding the prestigious position as President of the Queens County Dental Society. As a local to our Great Neck Community, she is actively involved in the Great Neck School District Career Internship Program and was Chairman of the United Parent Teacher Committee of the Gifted and Talented Students of the Great Neck School District.
She is the proud mother of two wonderful daughters, Hilana who graduated from Princeton University and Einstein College of Medicine, and Ariana who is attending CCNY, majoring in music and pre-med.
When asked why she chose to become an Orthodontist, Dr. Lewkowitz replied, “I want to do for others what orthodontics did for me. It gave me a beautiful smile that changed my life forever!”
