Straight teeth do more than boost confidence; they’re easier to clean, which will help reduce your child’s chances of decay and cavities. This is why we suggest that as your child’s teeth come in, you keep an eye on how they are developing. Even better, let us keep an eye on them at regularly scheduled cleanings and exams. Even if your child’s teeth look straight, an orthodontic evaluation might be in order.
Disorder and Your Child
We check for malocclusion, or a bad bite, which might not be apparent in the appearance of the teeth, but if it is present, it could affect your kid’s health and comfort for life. Malocclusions can contribute to tooth loss, chipped teeth, speech impairments, chewing and digestive difficulties, tooth decay, gum disease, and bone decline, as well as affecting breathing and even causing sleep apnea which contributes to poor concentration and headaches.
If we do find that orthodontic problems are present, we encourage early treatment for a better outcome and longer-lasting results.
Our orthodontic treatment is offered in phases for the very best and long-lasting results. Phase 1 – During this phase we intercept problems such as thumb sucking or pacifier habits. We may also introduce a palatal expander or partial braces, depending on the age. Phase 2 – Once the adult teeth have come in, we offer a variety of braces options. Not all braces are appropriate for every case.
Our bracers include:
Traditional Metal Braces
Ceramic Braces – Ceramic braces are made of composite materials placed on the front of the teeth. Since the material is tooth colored, they virtually disappear in the smile. They are very strong and generally do not stain. These braces use a ligature elastic to help the teeth move.
Incognito™ Lingual Braces – Incognito braces are placed behind the teeth, making them perfect for teenagers or those who do not want the appearance of braces. These unique braces are created using state-of-the-art technology and are the only 100% customized, invisible, fixed braces system on the market today.
Invisalign – Clear, Removable Braces – Invisalign is a tooth straightening system that uses smooth, clear plastic aligners instead of wires and brackets. The aligners are designed as a series to gradually and gently move teeth into their correct position. Made of custom molded plastic, Invisalign aligners are comfortable, convenient and effective. Though Invisalign clear braces are to be worn at all times, they are removable so oral hygiene routines can be continued as usual and food can be enjoyed without the fear of damaging the braces.
The Finishing Touches
Once orthodontic treatment is complete, we can finish treatment with a cosmetics or restorative consultation if necessary. Clear retainers are also offered to help orthodontic treatment last.
